How Fennia Palace came to be

Fennia Palace opened in 2012 after three years of construction on a former warehouse plot near the central railway station, and was planned as a combined hotel and gaming house from the very first drawings.

The site was acquired and initial permits were filed with Helsinki city planning; the original warehouse structures were cleared.

2010–2011

Main construction phase: steel frame, façade cladding and the internal zoning of hotel floors and ground-level gaming areas were completed.

2012

First guests checked in during the autumn, and the gaming floor opened that same week under Finnish regulatory oversight.

2015–2018

The wellness wing was expanded and two new dining halls were added, lifting the room count from 180 to 240.

2022

A full interior refresh of the public corridors and gaming zones, with new ventilation and acoustic treatments installed.

Guest comments from recent stays

Chosen remarks gathered from independent booking platforms and direct feedback forms, with names shown as provided.

★★★★★

"After a long train ride from Turku I checked in and found everything ready — the room was quiet and the desk lamp worked properly for evening work. The gaming floor was easy to reach from the lobby, and the front desk staff answered my questions without rushing."

Aino K. · Tampere · stayed March 2026
★★★★★

"I came for a weekend table-game session and wound up staying two extra nights. The late kitchen staying open past midnight was a real help, and the pool area in the wellness wing was clean and pleasantly uncrowded on a weekday morning."

Markus V. · Espoo · stayed January 2026
★★★★☆

"Being near the station is genuinely handy. The room matched its description in size, and breakfast started early enough to catch an airport transfer. I'd happily book again for a mid-week stay."

Sari L. · Oulu · stayed November 2025
★★★★★

"This was my first stay at a casino hotel in Finland, and the separation between the gaming areas and the sleeping floors works really well. No noise reached our room on the sixth floor, and the concierge helped us sort out tram tickets."

Additional services inside the building

Front desk and luggage

Reception operates twenty-four hours a day. Luggage storage is free for registered guests on their departure day, early check-in requests are handled as rooms free up after cleaning cycles, and same-day laundry and pressing can be arranged through the desk.

Meeting rooms and small gatherings

Three meeting rooms on the second floor hold between twelve and forty people, with basic audiovisual equipment included and catering from the main kitchen available for morning or afternoon sessions. Bookings are accepted up to ninety days ahead.

Transport notes

Helsinki central railway station is a short walk away, tram lines stop near Lapuankatu, and taxi ranks operate outside the main entrance during peak evening hours. Airport transfers can be arranged through the reception team, with a fixed fee schedule available at the desk.

Accessibility

The lobby, gaming floor and restaurant levels can all be reached step-free from the street, and several guest rooms are configured for wheelchair users. Lifts serve every floor, and staff receive regular training in assisting guests with mobility or sensory needs.

Location in Helsinki

Lapuankatu 4, 00100 Helsinki, Finland. The building looks onto a quiet side street, a few blocks from the main railway station and the central business district.

Walking distances: roughly eight minutes to the central railway station, twelve to the Kamppi shopping area and fifteen to the waterfront promenade. Parking is available in an adjacent multi-storey facility with direct covered access to the hotel lobby, and bicycle racks sit near the side entrance.

Public transport: tram stops lie within two hundred metres, and frequent airport buses run from the station area. Guests arriving by ferry from Sweden or Estonia can reach the property from the main terminals by tram or taxi in under twenty-five minutes.

Building features and daily operations

Practical notes that help visitors on their first stay find their way around the layout and schedule.

Climate and air quality

Central heating and cooling hold steady temperatures across public and private areas, and fresh-air exchange rates meet Finnish building standards. Smoking is confined to designated outdoor zones — every indoor space is non-smoking.

Security presence

Licensed security staff watch over the public floors around the clock, with CCTV covering entrances, gaming areas and corridors. Key cards are required for guest floors after 22:00, and lost property is held at reception for thirty days.

Language support

Reception and gaming floor staff speak Finnish, Swedish and English, and additional language assistance can be requested for longer stays. Printed materials are available in Finnish and English.

Seasonal adjustments

In summer the outdoor terrace near the pool area stays open later, while winter operations centre on indoor spaces. Holiday periods may bring longer restaurant hours and extra staffing on the gaming floor.

Further notes for overnight guests

Quiet hours and floor layout

Two intermediate service floors separate the guest floors from the gaming and dining levels, and acoustic insulation was upgraded in 2022. Quiet hours run from 23:00 to 07:00 on the accommodation levels, with soft-close doors and carpeted corridors helping to keep corridor noise down.

Internet and work spaces

A wireless network reaches all rooms and public areas at no extra charge for registered guests. Bandwidth is shared and prioritised for basic browsing and video calls, and a small business centre with printing sits beside the second-floor meeting rooms.

Children and family stays

Families are welcome in the hotel section, while gaming areas are restricted to adults aged eighteen and over in line with Finnish regulations. High chairs and extra beds can be requested at booking, and a small play corner sits near the breakfast hall during morning hours.
