A purpose-built casino hotel

From the first drawings, Lumen Lake Casino Resort was conceived as a single destination for overnight stays and gaming alike. The plot at Lapuankatu 4 formerly housed light industrial structures, taken down between 2009 and 2010.

The build followed Finnish building codes for mixed-use hospitality and regulated gaming. In its finished form the property holds eight floors of guest rooms, sitting above ground-level public spaces that take in the gaming floor, the dining halls and the wellness wing.

Opened

Autumn 2012. The first overnight guests arrived in September, and the gaming floor began operating under the same licence the week after.

Room inventory

After the 2015–2018 expansion the hotel holds two hundred forty rooms; the original opening count was one hundred eighty.

Gaming area

Roughly eighty-five thousand square feet spread over three connected zones, with both table games and electronic machines on offer.

Staffing

Front-of-house, kitchen, housekeeping, gaming and security teams work in shifts that together cover twenty-four hours a day.

Operational principles

Regulatory compliance

Every gaming activity runs under Finnish law and the supervision of the relevant national authority. Entry to the gaming floor requires age verification, and responsible gambling information is shown at the entrances as well as being available from the guest services desk.

Guest privacy

Room numbers and guest details are never shared with third parties unless the law requires it. Surveillance cameras watch public areas only, and recordings are kept in line with the retention schedule set out in the privacy policy.

Environmental notes

Heating and cooling plant was upgraded in 2022. Guest-room water fixtures are fitted with reduced-flow heads, waste sorting stations sit on every floor and in the service areas, and the building takes part in the municipal energy-reporting scheme.

Community presence

A share of Lumen Lake Casino Resort's food supplies comes from regional producers. Public events held from time to time on the ground floor appear on the events page, and local vacancies are advertised through the reception desk and standard recruitment channels.
